About Us

My name is Jessica Blackwell and I am the owner of Rafter JD Halters. I am married to my amazing husband, Dillon, who puts up with all my shenanigans as well as helps with our 3 and 5 year old children while I travel. I am a high school computer teacher during the day and love my students.

We are a small business ran by family located in Shreveport, Louisiana. Everything is handmade is here in Louisiana. We even get our mule tape from a Louisiana company!

We started this business in 2021 because the price of REAL* mule tape halters at big stores was so expensive. We have increased our prices (because our supplies have increased like everything else) as the years have gone by but we still strive to keep our prices as low as possible. 

We travel to various shows, mostly around Louisiana, but venture into Texas and some big shows every couple of months. BBR Finals and NLBRA Finals are our two main "big" shows but we are always looking for new places to go and set up.

*A lot of places sell "mule tape halters" that are fake. They best way to tell if one is real or not is to grab a piece, roll it in your fingers. If the material rolls with you like it's hollowed out then it is just rope with the insides gutted out.
